Oh My Gulay! Collaboration

In 2011, EWPH partnered with Oh My Gulay! (OMG!), a nutritional advocacy program led by Senator Edgardo J. Angara, to enlist the support of corporate foundations and other private sector groups in replicating the TSK school-based vegetable gardens in as many DepEd schools as possible. With malnutrition being identified as a primary cause of poor performance in public elementary schools, the DepEd mandated a supplementary feeding program for students called "Gulayan sa Paaralan". OMG! is an initiative which complements the feeding program by providing the schools with a source of fresh vegetables. With funding support from selected corporate foundations, the joint cooperation between the DepEd, EWSF and OMG! has so far reached out to more than 70 schools.

In addition to the establishment of vegetable gardens, the OMG! program also incorporates a comprehensive theoretical and practical training program designed for teachers and students to learn about modern vegetable farming technologies.
